White Oak
White Oak is timeless and beautiful. It can be sawn at the mill in a variety of ways including flat sawn, rift sawn, and quarter sawn.
Flat sawn, also referred to as plain sawn, is most common. It is recognized by the open grain creating the effect of "cathedrals".
Rift sawn has a tight and clean appearance. The grain is straight and runs with the length of the board. It is also referred to as "Straight Grain White Oak".
Quarter sawn is the most distinguised of the cuts. This sawing technique opens up the ray flecking creating an array of patterns and character that can be truly remarkable.
Unless noted in the product description the cut is likely flat sawn.
